Gary Lineker has now been discussing an Arsenal player he absolutely loves following this weekend’s win over Newcastle United.
Mikel Arteta’s team triumphed impressively on Saturday night, alleviating any concerns about a potential European setback.
If Arsenal managed to lay to rest some ghosts from their previous Wednesday’s defeat, they might have also overcome some recent losses to Newcastle.
Before this weekend’s triumph, Arteta’s team had only won one of the last four encounters between the two sides.
Despite Newcastle not being in their prime currently, the 4-1 victory seemed to suggest two ventures evolving at disparate paces.
That said, Gary Lineker was notably taken with one Arsenal player against Newcastle.
While speaking on ‘The Rest Is Football’ podcast, Lineker confessed that Bukayo Saka has now become one of his top players.
Lineker praised Saka’s decision-making skills and also highlighted an often overlooked aspect of his game, his strength.
The commentator stated: “He is simply a splendid footballer. His decision-making skills. He appears to be a young, cheerful, pleasant boy, but he is also strong, tough, and competitive.
“He is one of my absolute favourite players.”

Indeed, it’s challenging to dispute the validity of Lineker’s comments.
In recent times, if Arsenal was in dire need of a goal scorer, they now boast a winger who has netted 13 goals in 25 Premier League matches. To illustrate Saka’s progression, the forward scored 14 goals in 38 league matches last season, and 11 goals the season prior.
Rio Ferdinand has already somewhat retracted his statement since he proclaimed that Saka wasn’t yet ‘world class’.
And perhaps, following Saka’s performance for Arsenal against Newcastle, Lineker might even disagree with those words himself.

Regardless, it’s evident that anyone watching an Arsenal match should simply appreciate the heights the England international is currently achieving, particularly with the Euros looming.
That being said, a player that Arsenal let go last summer has also been scoring, netting a remarkable goal on Sunday.
