There has been a major claim made over a reported Manchester City transfer target.
Manchester City is reportedly contemplating a £100m bid for Bruno Guimaraes, a midfielder from Newcastle United. Guimaraes, a Brazilian international who has been capped 18 times, quickly made a name for himself after joining the Magpies in a £40m deal from Lyon in January 2022. He played a key role in helping the team avoid relegation, scoring five goals and providing one assist in his first 17 appearances.
In his first full season with the club, the Magpies broke into the Premier League’s top four and reached their first major cup final since 1999. However, they were defeated 2-0 by Manchester United in the Carabao Cup Final. Despite interest from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, Guimaraes committed to Newcastle and signed a new five-year contract in October of the same year.

Guimaraes expressed his happiness at the club, stating his desire to continue pleasing the fans and contributing to the team’s success. He recalled stating in his first interview that he wanted to play for the club in the Champions League, a goal that has now been realized. He expressed pride in his teammates, the staff, the owners, and the fans, and hoped that the team’s success would continue.
Speculation about Guimaraes’ future has been fueled by a reported £100m release clause in his new contract. According to Football Transfers, Manchester City is considering a move for the Brazilian to bolster their midfield options in the summer. Chelsea is also rumored to be interested in the midfielder.
