Mikel Arteta has expressed that Ethan Nwaneri is on the brink of making the leap to Arsenal’s senior squad.
Nwaneri gained widespread attention last season when he made history as the youngest player to debut in the Premier League at just 15 years and 181 days old.
Throughout this season, he has primarily featured for Arsenal’s youth teams, demonstrating his prowess with 14 goals in as many appearances.
Last week, Nwaneri committed to Arsenal by signing professional terms, despite significant interest from Chelsea and Manchester City.
The 17-year-old made a cameo appearance in the league in February during Arsenal’s emphatic 6-0 victory over West Ham.
Arteta has now issued a challenge to Nwaneri to carve out a place in his plans.

“I was genuinely thrilled [about Nwaneri signing a professional contract],” remarked the Spaniard. “He had a fantastic day surrounded by his family and other significant individuals.
“It’s a moment of immense pride to witness another academy graduate sealing his professional contract. He is on the cusp of breaking into the first team. The opportunity awaits him, and it’s up to him to seize it.”
