Joe Aribo scored for Southampton, but it wasn’t enough as they suffered a 2-1 loss at home to Hull City in the Championship on Tuesday night. This marked Aribo’s first goal for Southampton since December 26, 2023.

In this campaign, he has scored two goals in 22 games for Southampton in the second tier. Coming on in the 46th minute, Aribo found the net in the 88th minute, reducing the deficit to 2-1. Nevertheless, Hull City managed to maintain their lead and clinch the victory at St. Mary’s stadium.
Despite the loss, Southampton holds the fourth position (a promotion playoff spot) with 67 points in the league standings. They aim to recover from this defeat as they face Millwall at home on Saturday.
Aribo, who represented the Super Eagles, helped them secure a runner-up position at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. This tournament marked his second appearance in the AFCON, following his debut in the 2021 edition held in Cameroon.
